Personal Growth Retreats

Our personal growth retreats are immersive healing experiences designed to help individuals recover from trauma and reconnect with their authentic selves. Led by an interdisciplinary Trauma Team of clinicians, we combine experiential methods such as drama therapy, psychodrama, somatic release, mindfulness and meditation, movement, art, and native healing rituals to support emotional release and integration. The retreats begin Friday evening with grounding, safety-building, and connection exercises that prepare participants to engage deeply with their healing process. Throughout the weekend, we cultivate trust, presence, and body awareness as essential foundations for transformation.

Saturday focuses on experiential action methods that guide participants through the release of deeply held trauma in a contained and supportive environment. By Sunday afternoon, the focus shifts toward integration, post-traumatic growth, and renewal—helping participants leave feeling grounded, inspired, and reconnected to their sense of vitality and purpose. Held at serene retreat facilities that provide nourishing, healthy meals, these weekends invite participants to bring what they personally need for comfort and care. Each retreat offers a balance of structured therapeutic experiences and reflective time, encouraging participants to honor their unique healing journeys while being supported in community.

Colleen saved my life! More than once! The evolution from drowning to group therapy to psychodrama to inpatient to individual therapy to life!!!!!”

Jen Werner

I have known Colleen since 1995. I met her when I was admitted to an eating disorders program where she ran the psychodrama program and the survivor's group. Colleen is skilled and compationate. She has a nurtuing way about her that made me feel very safe to open up to. We reconnected many years later, when I was admitted again for treatment at the Renfrew Center. Colleen is someone who I have always looked up to and admire.

The trauma retreat was truly amazing.
I was originally nervous about opening up and working with others, but the environment was so open, honest, and supportive that I quickly felt safe and seen. Working with Ms. Colleen, Ms. Debbie, and the entire staff was incredibly freeing. The whole weekend was an eye-opening experience, and I’m so grateful for the care and compassion they provided throughout.

Thank you for the endless support.
