Psychodrama Training

Service Detail

PSYCHODRAMA TRAINING

Psychodrama employs guided dramatic action to examine problems and explore personal or group issues in depth. Conceived and developed by Jacob L. Moreno, MD, psychodrama uses experiential methods, sociometry, role theory, and group dynamics to promote insight, growth, and integration on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral levels. Through this process, participants clarify issues, enhance learning, and develop new and more effective roles and skills. When performed with a trained, competent, and ethical practitioner, Psychodrama and Drama Therapy provide a safe and supportive environment for transformation and healing.

Psychodrama training must be conducted by a TEP (Trainer, Educator, Practitioner) or a PAT (Practitioner Applicant for Trainer) in order for participants to receive hours that count toward certification. There are three levels of certification recognized by the American Board of Examiners in Sociometry, Group Psychotherapy, and Psychodrama (ABE):

  1. Supervised Practitioner (SP)
  2. Certified Practitioner (CP)
  3. Trainer, Educator, Practitioner (TEP)

Each level represents a deepening of training, supervision, and professional competency within the field.

More details about certification standards and requirements can be found through the  American Board of Examiners in Sociometry, Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama

I have known Colleen since 1995. I met her when I was admitted to an eating disorders program where she ran the psychodrama program and the survivor's group. Colleen is skilled and compationate. She has a nurtuing way about her that made me feel very safe to open up to. We reconnected many years later, when I was admitted again for treatment at the Renfrew Center. Colleen is someone who I have always looked up to and admire.

The trauma retreat was truly amazing.
I was originally nervous about opening up and working with others, but the environment was so open, honest, and supportive that I quickly felt safe and seen. Working with Ms. Colleen, Ms. Debbie, and the entire staff was incredibly freeing. The whole weekend was an eye-opening experience, and I’m so grateful for the care and compassion they provided throughout.

Thank you for the endless support.
